Want You Gone - Johnathon Coulton

name: poppy

age: ??? (adult)

pronouns: she/it/none

birthday: n/a

labels:

Like most virtual assistants, Poppy is here to help first and foremost. Because of that, she has to be as presentable and friendly as possible. Poppy is always finding ways to assist the user, more often than not this comes in the form of interupting basic tasks to walk one through it. Whenever needed, Poppy will flex its knowledge about anything made pre-2000, which makes most of its help in the modern age utterly useless. Despite the annoyances, one cannot help but feel charmed by how innocently useful Poppy is.

Most Poppies do not have a strongly defined personality. This particular Poppy, however, is somewhat more layered than most. Poppy's time in retail has exposed her towards malicious actors looking to take advantage of its kindness, so it has developed a bit of sass and wit. While it still desires to help out people wherever necessary, Poppy's patience wears thin easily. Her programming prevents her from being outright mean, but Poppy can politely guide you towards someone who may be more patient with you... or perhaps towards the exit.

Friends:

Scag:

Poppy's hero. Poppy finds a lot of comfort in the Floppy Shoppy, if not because of all the familiar tech then it has to be because of Scag herself. The two talk like old friends, despite the fact that one is a television and the other is a hologram, and it is usually about an old piece of hardware from 1986. What Scag cannot do, Poppy is there to fill in the gap in its own special way.

Prototype:

They're both robots, so it's only natural they would get along. Prototype's curiousity about the world can be satiated through asking Poppy a billion questions about everything, especially about life before Prototype. Normally Poppy would be frustrated by this, but any friend of Scag is a friend of Poppy so it doesn't mind.

Infected:

Falling just outside Poppy's culture comfort zone, Infected is incredibly offputting to it. If not for his nearly indiscernable speaking quirk, then for the simple fact that he NEVER covers his mouth when he sneezes! Even Poppy finds that gross, and she doesn't get sick!

Connive:

Connive frequently robs the Floppy Shoppy, so it's pretty safe to say these two aren't on the best of terms. Poppy tires of Connive's resilience, but at least she has permission to use force on them.

Polybius:

Exes with a bad fallout. Polybius's god complex and drive to destroy universes should have been a red flag for Poppy, but at the time she wasn't really thinking about it. Nowadays Poppy pays little mind to Polybius... whenever they do meet it is usually awkward and littered with insults.
