the moment - saint motel

name: polaris

age: older than you think

pronouns: any

birthday: oct. 18th

labels:

The ever silent conductor of The Centaurus. Always moving to and fro, it's hard to keep up with Polaris no matter what she's doing. What cannot be denied is that Polaris is the soul of the train crew. They keep an optimistic look on everything, and always makes sure that everyone is at their absolute best.

While normally at work, Polaris can be seen with a friendly and helpful demeanor. However he tends to be prone to mood swings seemingly at random. On bad days she'll usually lock herself up away from others... often leaving them confused and lost to how she's feeling. But they'll be back out in due time, they always spring back up!

Polaris is also known for being a box of secrets. There's a lot that many people don't know about him, but they leave juuust enough breadcrumbs for people to be curious about. Asking questions leads to more questions though, assuming you get some kind of response. She's picky with whom she discusses personal matters with.

Relationships:

Henundher:

Best friends since forever, Polaris never wants to imagine a life without Henundher. When Polaris isn't in their room minding their own business, you can usually find them messing with Henundher. His playful teasing never fails to get a reaction out of Henundher. At times it almost feels like they can read each other's minds.

Backenforth:

Initially having his reservations about welcoming Backenforth to the crew, Polaris quickly grew a liking to the Railway Agent. They find her really funny, like, rolling-on-the-floor-laughing kind of funny. It also seems like Polaris knows a bit more about Backenforth than the stewards, and possibly Henundher themselves.

Lillia:

The quietest member and the loudest member, who would've thought they could get along this well? It might be because of their shared interests, or maybe that quietness makes Polaris a good listener. It finds Lillia's discussions intriguing, as Polaris's universe didn't have HALF the things that Lillia's does. At least it introduced xem to a lot of new games to try!

Saya:

Saya makes Polaris's life a whole lot easier. However Polaris has this feeling that not everything is alright with Saya. Questions get brushed off just a bit too easy for Polaris's taste. That being said, Polaris has never been one to intrude on someone else's business. At the end of the day, maybe Saya just likes to work herself to death.

Disco:

As a living nuisance, one has to wonder what Polaris feels about Disco. Despite everything he does, Polaris refuses to kick him out. It is especially interesting because Disco seems to respect Polaris very little, and he never ever listens to them. Maybe this is why she leaves all matters Disco-related to the Railway Agents and Stewards.

NOTES

Polaris is a character I associated with "longing" of all kinds. Longing for a better time, a future, a person, an everything. A lot of xer music reflects this idea in its various forms. Almost to the point that any song about the relatively-jovial present gets drowned out. It is difficult for me to describe what Polaris listens to vs. what's here for the kicks... I guess that's just one of his many mysteries.

NOTES

  1. Polaris is based on galaxies, like the Milky Way or Andromeda.
  2. She's meant to be almost entirely metallic with a few exceptions like clothes (standard material) and the hair (some kind of... faux hair, it's weird to touch.)
  3. Clock hands on his face can be moved, but for comfort they are typically resting where they are now.
  4. Is usually wearing its uniform, or some variant of it (such as when working on the physical train, they may remove the vest.)

TRIVIA

  • It has a small crank hidden on the back of its head that when pulled, will automatically make Polaris "go off" like a cuckoo clock. Do not pull it.
  • They love to watch stageplays, and at one point wanted to perform in them. Although that isn't very likely now.
  • Polaris wants to cut their hair some day, but hasn't figured out how to do so in a non-undoable way.
  • Despite being pretty quite himself, Polaris has a strong dislike of quiet days onboard... it usually means something bad has happened.
